Halloween Activity Day

Hello Room 5 Families,

We are so excited to be planning a fun celebration for our classroom on

Halloween ~ Thursday, October 31st.  

Plan on staying for the parade at 8:30 am to see all the costumes (Theme is Famous Figure) and then immediately after the parade we will begin our celebration until lunch time.  If a few of you could plan on helping that would be great!  We also have a few items that need brought in.

Common Core Math Word Problems

Fall Costume Parade

Don't forget the Heritage Park Field Trip on October 24th.  If you haven't turned in your field trip donation of $7, please do so as soon as possible.  This is an exciting trip that ties in with our standard based study of "then and now".  Students will experience a petting zoo, ride a tractor through the orange grove and learn about the old farm house.  They will even select a small pumpkin to take home.  Parents are welcome to accompany us, but they need to provide a $2 donation.  We look forward to this fun day!

 

Fresh Food Friday's

Each Friday, our class will be sampling some type of fresh fruit or vegetable.  After sampling, students will be graphing whether they liked what they tasted, or not.  After checking with the school nurse, I have not discovered any allergies that would not allow all students to try the fresh fruit or vegetables. 
If your child is allergic, or unable to eat, any specific fruits or vegetables, please let me know.  Fresh Food Friday will begin this week, October 18th.


I have assigned each student a Friday to bring 20 pieces of either fresh fruit or fresh vegetables to class.  Please contact the room parents if you are unable to bring fruit or vegetables on your assigned date.

Welcome to Mrs. Young's First Grade Blog!  

We are excited to get posts and information out to you for the 2013 ~ 2014 school year.  Homework is now uploaded weekly to the Homework tab above.  If you have any issues, please do not hesitate to ask and we will try to get them resolved.  Remember to include the cover sheet when you return the completed assignments.

Watch for information to come home soon regarding our Halloween activity and parade.  We also have a school wide door decorating contest.  We would love to have all parents in on the fun!
